36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
예수계서 대답하시길, 내 왕국은 이 세상으로 되어있지않다 : 만약 내 왕국이 이 세상으로 되었다면,, 그럼 내 종들이 싸울 것이다,, 내가 유태인들에게 넘겨지지 않도록 : 하지만, 이제 이후로는 내 왕국이 있지않다 John 18:36


If Jesus returned today, which form of government would He choose?  When Jesus walked the earth many thought, particularly the Jews, that He would save them from the tyranny of the Romans, and yet they misunderstood what His kingdom was about. All throughout history, man has attempted to create a form of government that might work. Most of the kingdoms of western civilization took on the form of a monarchy, with one great ruler at the throne. Sometimes, a dictator would rule the people, subduing all under his control, expanding their territory, with the common folk  being left behind to pay the taxes, and working the land. And yet, there are many governments still in the world around us that have been formed and continue to act in these ways.

만약 예수가 오늘 되돌아온다면, 어떤형태의 정부를 그분이 선택할까요 ?  예수님이 땅 위를 걸었을때,, 많은 이들이 생각했습니다, 특히 유태인들은, 그분이 그들을 로마인들이 폭정에서 그들을 구해 주리라고, 그렇지만 그들은 잘못 이해 했더랬습니다,, 그분이 왕국이 어떤것인지를 두고. 역사 전반을 걸쳐,, 인간은 이끄는 정부의 형태를 시도하여 만들어왔습니다. 대부분은 서방문명 왕국들은 군주제 형태를 취했습니다,, 보좌에 한 위대한 다스리는자가 있는.  때때로, 독재자가 그 백성을 다스리기도 했습니다,, 그의 통제하여 전부를 복종시키는, 그들의 영토를 확장시키며,,그 일반 민중평민들로  세금을 치르도록 하고,, 땅을 경작하도록 하며. 그렇지만, 여전히 세상엔,, 많은 정부들이 있습니다,, 우리 주변으로 구성되어진채,, 계속해서 이러한 방식으로 집행하는.

In its original form, communism sought to redistribute wealth and to bar social classes, where everything was shared with all. But we know, that ultimately, it failed as one or a few, took control over everything, and freedom was lost, and people were subdued in the process. To quote  Elizabeth Scalia,

그것의 원래 형태속에선,, 공산주의가 부를 재 분배하려 했습니다, 사회 계층들을 감금하고,,그기서 모든것들을  모두가 함께 공유하도록. 하지만 우리가 아는바, 결국, 그것은 실패했습니다,, 한 사람, 혹은 극소수가 모든것을 통제장악했고, 자유가 없었졌고, 사람들은 그 과정에서 억압되었습니다.   Elizabeth Scalia의 말을 인용해 보면,

And furthermore,

그리고 더한것은,

“The state, man-made, cannot embody the greatness the communist promises. All states, all governments, eventually evolve into some Democratic-and-quasi-Capitalist amalgam or they collapse beneath the weight of corruption, for no human being is all-good, and where humanity “may” fail, it eventually will.”

One ultimately needs to surrender their wealth in order for the system to work, and very few are willing, or in a position to do this. Throughout the book of Acts we see that many shared all things in common.

32 Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. 33 And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. 34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold 35 and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.

믿는 무리가 한마음과 한 뜻이 되어 모든 물건을 서로 통용하고 자기 재물을 조금이라도 자기 것이라 하는 이가 하나도 없더라.사도들이 큰 권능으로 주 예수의 부활을 증언하니 무리가 큰 은혜를 받아 그 중에 가난한 사람이 없으니 이는 밭과 집 있는 자는 팔아 그 판 것의 값을 가져다가 사도들의 발 앞에 두매 그들이 각 사람의 필요를 따라 나누어 줌이라.Acts 4

There were pockets of people who continued to follow in the teachings of Jesus, and these found a way to live out their lives in this way. But throughout the centuries, eventually this form of sharing everything was replaced, as people were displaced by the spread of various kingdoms and wars. But Jesus instructed, “If you will be perfect, go and sell that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow Me”

예수의 가르침을 계속해서 따르고자 하는 자들가운데 호주머니를 가진자들이 있었다,

이러한 자들이 그들 삶을 이런식으로 살려는 방법을 발견했다. 하지만 여러세기가 흐르면서,, 결국은 이런 모든것을 나누는 형테가 바뀌어 버렸고 (대체되었고), 사람들이 여러종류의 왕국들과 전쟁들로 인해 바뀌어 버렸다. 하지만 예수님이 가르쳤다

" 예수께서 이르시되 네가 온전하고자 할진대 가서 네 소유를 팔아 가난한 자들에게 주라 그리하면 하늘에서 보화가 네게 있으리라 그리고 와서 나를 따르라 하시니 "Matt. 19: 21

Loving one’s neighbor and giving to the poor certainly fits within a socialist model. Think of programs such as Medicare and Social Security, which provide healthcare and financial stability to the elderly and those in need. Next think of labor unions fighting to bring fair wages and to rein in corrupt capitalists. This looks like caring for the poor and needy.

어떤이의 이웃을 사랑하고, 가난한 자들에게 주는 것은 분명,, 사회주의 모델의 틀에 맞습니다. 예컨데 생각해 보십시오 의료보험, 사회보장제도같은 것을, 그것이 노인들에게와 그것이 필요한 자들에게 의료복지, 재정적 안정성을 제공해 주는. 다음은 노동조합, 공정한 임금을 받기위해 투쟁하는,, 그리고 부패한 자본주의자들을 제어하는.  이러한 것이 가난하고,, 곤궁한 자들을 돌보는 것처럼 보입니다.

No form of government is ultimately benevolent enough to take care of the needs of all. Ultimately government is not the answer, for just as Jesus said that His kingdom is not of this world, then no kingdom can truly give us freedom, security, and hope for all. Certainly those that provide for the aging and care for the hurting, are noble in their efforts, but it all comes with a price. And the price oftentimes comes in the form of either paying for these services, or higher taxation. To be sure, Jesus is not against the wealthy or big business, but He would ask all to give to those who ask of him.

어떤 형태의 정부도 궁극적으로 모든이들의 필요를 돌볼 만큼 충분히 자비롭지는 않습니다. 궁극적으로, 정부가 그 해답이 아닙니다, 이는 예수께서 말했던 바, 그의 왕국은 이 세상으로 되어있지 않다,, 했기 때문입니다, 그럼 어떤 왕국도 진정코,, 우리에게 자유와 안전, 소망을 모두에게 줄수는 없습니다. 확실히 노년층에게 먹을것을 제공하고, 아픈자들을 돌보는 자들은 그들 수고가 고귀합니다, 하지만 그것은 모두 비용이 듭니다, 그리고 그 비용은 흔히들,, 이러한 서비스(봉사)에 돈을 지불하는 형태이거나,, 혹은 더 높은 과세가 뒤따릅니다. 확실히, 예수님이 그 부자들과, 혹은 대규모 사업에 반대하지는 않습니다, 하지만 그분은 모두에게 요구했습니다,, 그에게 구하는 자들에게 주라고..

To say that He was a bleeding heart liberal, paints a picture of the Christ as one who would not stand up to the Pharisees or the teachers of the law. For we know that one who would turn over the tables of money-changers, certainly didn’t lack in boldness, nor in passion. If He came into our churches today would He be welcomed? Would He need to wear a three-piece suit and shake hands with all that He met? As He found His seat amongst others at the pews, would He be ignored and shunned because of His appearance, or would we see the mark of royalty in Him?

그분을 피흘리는 가슴의 진보주의자였다로 말하는 것은 그 그리스도를 바리새인들, 혹은 율법학자들에 저항하려 하지 않는 자로의 모습을  그려줍니다. 이는 우리가 아는 바 돈 바꾸는 자들의 책상을 뒤엎으려 했던 한 사람으로서,, 용기혹은 열정이 부족해서가 아니었습니다. 만약 그분이 오늘날의 우리 교회들속으로 들어간다면,, 그분이 환영받을까요 ?

그분이 정장으로 갖춰입고서,, 그분이 마주치는 모두와 악수 할까요 ? 그분이 신도석의 다른이들가운데서 그의 자리를 발견했을 때,, 그분이 무시를 당하고,, 그분의 외모때문에 회피되거나, 혹은 우리는 그분 속에서 제왕의 흔적을 볼까요 ? 

All of the governments of this world will eventually pass away. It doesn’t matter if the land was democratic, autocratic, or socialist in nature. And then the final form of government will come, and it will far exceed anything that man could have conjured up in his feeble mind.

이 세상의 모든 정부들은 결국 사라질 것입니다. 지면이 민주적이든, 독재이든, 혹은 사회주의이든,, 성질에 있어,, 중요치 않습니다. 그리고서, 그 최후의 정부형태가 올 것이고,, 그것은 인간이 그 허약한 정신으로는 생각해 낼수 있을 어떤것을 훨씬 초월할 것입니다.

During His ministry, Christ emphasized the importance of helping people. He continually healed the sick and once provided food for the masses (Matt.14:15-21, 15:32-38).

그분의 사역시간동안 그리스도는 사람들 돕는것의 중요성을 강조했습니다. 그분은 계속해서 병자들을 치료하셨고,, 때로는 대중들을 위해 음식을 공급했습니다 (마태복음 14:15-21, 15:32-38

multitude, because they continue with Me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way”(15:32)

In Matthew 10:42 , Jesus said that those who just give a drink of cold water to a child will not lose their reward: “And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.”

군중들이, 그도 그럴것이 그들이 나와 함께 사흘이나 있는데,, 먹을것이 아무것도 없다 : 내가 그들을 굶겨서 보내지 않을 것이다, 그들이 가는길에 쓰러지지 않도록 " (15:32)

마태복음 10:42 , 예수께서 말씀하셨다, 한 어린아이에게 찬물 한 컵을 주는 자도 그들 보상을 잃지 않을 것이다 : " 누구든지 이러한 작은자들 하나에게 제자의 이름으로  찬물 한 컵 마실것은 줄자는, 정령코 내가 말하지만,, 그가 결코 그의 보상을 잃지 않을 것이다." 

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines “socialism” as “a way of organizing a society in which major industries are owned and controlled by the government rather than by individual people and companies…(1) any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, (2) a system of society or group living in which there is no private property...”

Merriam-Webster 사전은 " 사회주의 "를 다음과 같이 정의합니다,, 한 사회의 속한 주요 산업들을 개인과 사기업보다는 정부가 소유하고 통제하는 방식으로 조직하는 것을 말한다.... (1) 다양한 경제정치적 이론의 어떤것,, 협업, 혹은 정부적 소유와 관리에 두는,, 상품의 생산과 분배를 위해,, (2) 전혀 개인적 소유가 없는 사회나 무리의 형테... "라고.

Socialism’s mortal enemy is capitalist greed, which Jesus seemed to decry. Notice: “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:25)

사회주의' 의 줄일 원수는 자본가들의 탐욕입니다, 그것은 예수님이 비난했던 것 같습니다. 주목하십시오 : 낙타가 바늘귀를 통과하는 것이 하나님 나라 들어가는것보다 더 쉽다" (마가복음 10:25 ) 

Systems like this have certainly had their critics. Those governments that have practiced socialism have not brought about a utopian society. Corruption, poverty, and disease, have often led to their demise, and thus, the country has become.

이것은 분명코 그들을 비난하는 비평가들을 가졌던 체제입니다. 사회주의를 실행했었던 저러한 정부들은 유토피아(이상)사회를 가져오지 못했습니다. 부패, 기아, 질병이 빈번하게 그들의 종말로 이어졌고, 이리하여,, 그 나라는 되었습니다.

The prophet Daniel confirms that God’s kingdom will not be left to men: “…the God of heaven shall set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever” (2:44) Christ will be a just, divine ruler—bringing true justice, equity, fairness and prosperity to all peoples. All forms of government are ultimately unsustainable and they simply end up being ineffective. It doesn’t matter if they are democratic or socialist in nature. All will be replaced by God’s righteous, divine government.

선지자 다니엘은 확인하길 하나님이 왕국은 사람에게로 넘어가지 않을것이라고 : "... 하늘의 하나님이 한 왕국을 세울 것인데,, 그것은 결코 파괴되지 않을 것이니 : 그 왕국은 다른 사람에게도 넘어가지 않을 것이라고, 대신, 그것은 모든 왕국들을 산산히 부수고,, 소멸 시킬것이라고,, 그리고 그것이 영원히 설 것이라고 " (2:44) 그리스도는 공정하고, 신성한 지배자가 될 것입니다 - 진정한 정의, 평등, 공정, 번영을 모든 백성들에게 가져다 주는.  온갖 형태의 정부들은 궁극적으로  지탱할 수가 없습니다,,그것들은 비 효과적으로 결국 끝납니다. 그것은 상관없습니다, 그것들이 민주주의적이든, 혹은 본질상 사회주의의던. 모든것들은 하나님의 의로 된, 신성한 정부로 대체 될 것입니다. 

The prophet Isaiah tells us: "Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, 'Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.' For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem" (Isaiah 2:2–3).

1. 선지자 이사야는 우리에게 말합니다 : 말일에 여호와의 전의 산이 모든 산 꼭대기에 굳게 설 것이요 모든 작은 산 위에 뛰어나리니 만방이 그리로 모여들 것이라

11 Thy gates also shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the wealth of the nations, and their kings led captive. 12 For that nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted. 13 The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir-tree, the pine, and the box-tree together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious. 14 And the sons of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee The city of Jehovah, The Zion of the Holy one of Israel. Isaiah 60 16 Thou shalt also suck the milk of the nations, and shalt suck the breast of kings; and thou shalt know that I, Jehovah, am thy Saviour, and thy Redeemer, the Mighty one of Jacob. 17 For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron. I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness. 18 Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, desolation nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise. 19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but Jehovah will be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy [h]glory. 20 Thy sun shall no more go down, neither shall thy moon withdraw itself; for Jehovah will be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. 21 Thy people also shall be all righteous; they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. 22 The little one shall become a thousand, and the small one a strong nation; I, Jehovah, will hasten it in its time.

네 성문이 항상 열려 주야로 닫히지 아니하리니 이는 사람들이 네게로 이방 나라들의 재물을 가져오며 그들의 왕들을 포로로 이끌어 옴이라 너를 섬기지 아니하는 백성과 나라는 파멸하리니 그 백성들은 반드시 진멸되리라 레바논의 영광 곧 잣나무와 소나무와 황양목이 함께 네게 이르러 내 거룩한 곳을 아름답게 할 것이며 내가 나의 발 둘 곳을 영화롭게 할 것이라 너를 괴롭히던 자의 자손이 몸을 굽혀 네게 나아오며 너를 멸시하던 모든 자가 네 발 아래에 엎드려 너를 일컬어 여호와의 성읍이라, 이스라엘의 거룩한 이의 시온이라 하리라 전에는 네가 버림을 당하며 미움을 당하였으므로 네게로 가는 자가 없었으나 이제는 내가 너를 영원한 아름다움과 대대의 기쁨이 되게 하리니

네 백성이 다 의롭게 되어 영원히 땅을 차지하리니 그들은 내가 심은 가지요 내가 손으로 만든 것으로서 나의 영광을 나타낼 것인즉 그 작은 자가 천 명을 이루겠고 그 약한 자가 강국을 이룰 것이라 때가 되면 나 여호와가 속히 이루리라
